Stop thinking fat, and you will stop being fat

Posted by Daniel H on July 22, 2007 in Personal Development · 6 Comments

I know, I know… I really need to post more often but I just can’t. Some people talk about posting at least 5 times in a week but sincerely what’s the point of posting rubbish if you have nothing interesting and valuable to share with your readers?!Asian Food

I have a friend who just broke up with his girlfriend, I really feel bad for him and what happened to him but this story is reserved for another time and the purpose of mentioning him is just unusual, I just felt the need to tell you that his bad feelings made me decide I should share something with you today, all you fat and skinny people out there. Now here’s the story, I was sent by my University to a conference in the beautiful Lisbon, Capital of Portugal, together with 7 women to share some ideas with other people and establish new contacts. You know, that kind of trip that’s 3 days socializing and the rest visiting. This was a truly amazing trip for me personally, as what happened in those 6 days is just another prof that there are no limits to anything you need to accomplish.

I am not going to get deep in describing Portugal or the conference as that is also reserved for another story. What I am going deep into is that last night in Lisbon, in that hotel room, where all 8 of us just chilled and talked all night.
Now this is a story folks, imagine me, a 21 year old guy, being somehow trapped in a 7 women intrigued conversation that went from socks to sex and the other way around.
I must admit this was a great night for me as a young man and the things I learned and discovered about women and how they think are irrefutable and enlightening.

A thing they/we talked about and the one that I found really interesting for me to share is fat, why women are fat, how they think about it and what are they doing against it.

You see, being overweight is a much more greater deal for a woman that for a man, believe me this is the first thing you understand when they start talking about it. And lets face it, we all like skinny, shiny and model type girls that workout and really take care of their bodies. I mean come one, we sometimes even fantasize about them, hell even other women do. But what makes other women more beautiful than others? Well lads it all comes down to motivation. You see, this one women in our group started the overweight conversation and things burned rubber. I mean everyone came in with an advice, a secret workout or recipe that they guarantee works for everyone. This is where things start taking separate ways in women thinking, you see some women do not realize that what works for a friend of hers does not necessarily work for her also. This is what we must understand, every product out there can not fit everyone and it is not meant for everyone.

Shifting our attention to the more medical area we know for a fact there are three somatic types a person can have and live with: Ectomorph, Endomorph and Mesomorph. When talking about somatic types I am reffering to a persons body type, constitution and the way they burn calories. The way you burn calories and your body constitution represents a very important factor in “the fight” with gaining or losing weight. But let’s not focus on that for now, because what we are talking about today is MOTIVATION.

Going back to my story, this overweight woman complained to have tried every method she knew of losing weight even talking to a specialist. You see, she even went to a doctor asking for advice and that did not turn out so great for her (she ended up having kidneys problems because of the hard medication the doctor prescribed).
She clearly stated, “I tried everything! I can’t take it anymore, I guess it is genetic and I’m stuck like this”. What a wrong statement, if she even knew how easy it really is to lose weight and live a healthy life eating what ever you want, when you want.
Right after she made this statement woman #2 asked her what seemed like a dumb question, “Do you want to lose weight?“, and of course she said “Yes” almost in tears, and then #2 asked again “Do you really want to lose weight? I mean really desire to lose weight” this went back and forth for a little wile until I realized what #2 was actually trying to say.
What she was actually saying was you have to make peace with yourself and the way you look, and really really desire to lose weight in a mental way. You need motivation, you need to be strong, you have to take what’s yours and don’t hesitate. Feel good in your body and just imagine yourself feeling even better if you lost a couple of pounds. Do not make a big case out of this, just picture yourself as a happier person. If you feel like eating a cookie or some pie, forget about the calories or getting fat! Just eat it if it makes you feel good and your body desires it. Enjoy life and have a goal, make your brain work with you and everything will follow. A happy person has 100x more chances of losing weight then a desperate person.
Its all in your mind, if you convince yourself that you want to lose weight and feel good about it, your brain will act in tandem and with just a LITTLE exercise you will be amazed of the results.
What you need to remember is the fact that your brain alone will not make you lose weight, you have to put up and feel good about it.
Let’s say you feel the need to eat an ice cream, don’t go and get it from the fridge, take a walk, go to the store, WALK and WALK and WALK it’s really good for you.
Say for example you workout, do it because you want to and not because you are constrained to, feel good about it and consider working out your special time, a recreation period just for you, witch you can truly enjoy.

As a result of what I am writing, just so you know these are not just personal opinions there are facts, woman #2 was also considered overweight just until she showed us some pictures of her from the past year, and they were amazing. Even if she was a little overweight now, she was very happy about it and she was just going on and on saying “Heh I really feel good now, I know I’m a little overweight but I like it and I know I can always work out a bit and lose even more weight”.

Trust me, almost everything you desire, really desire, can be yours with MOTIVATION.

You get the point. It’s all about motivation. You can try many of this “loose weight” programs, but if you are not motivated, it a waste of time.

Thanks for visiting my blog. Do you have something about Romanians? You know, many of us are great person :)

You spent all that time in a roomful of women, talking about how badly they’re stigmatized because of overweight — cans thrown out of cars at women trying to exercise, trying desperately to conform to the norm, after years, sometimes decades, of namecalling and prejudice — and you can’t do any better than that?!?!

    WHAT an ignorant asshole.

if all it took was a little exercise there wouldn’t be a 70% or whatever obesity rate.. read some fat acceptance blogs and educate yourself

Reading fat acceptance blogs is one thing while writing your own thoughts and personal opinion is another.

Don’t you love how “fat acceptance” people seem to think that seriously dedicating yourself to proper diet and fitness doesn’t work? And the evidence for it not working is because everyone is fat. It must be because they’ve already “tried everything”.

    What a dumb statement.

    Good post.

People make them selves fat! and wanting sympathy from others is stupid! i do agree that it is wrong that people are prejudice about big people but apparently people don’t seem to realize that its there fault, and I’m not talking about those people who have genetic disorder and who cant help but be fat, I’m talking about those people who stuff there faces in a tub of ice cream and than complain about being fat! If you really want to change your body than do it, don’t pretend like your gonna do some hard core exercise when your finished eating up that cake.

Some people may think im biased but im not, Im not skinny, im fat, and i know i made my self fat, and i don’t want others sympathy either. I want to lose weight, so i started eating less and exercising more…and no way in hell you’ve tried every diet and nothing worked, you probably didn’t see any results in the first two weeks so you decided it “wouldn’t” work, and went back to the bag of potato chips in cabinets! Throw all your junk food OUT! and buy healthy!
